Q: How is this book different from other books about renewable energy?
A: It's different in several ways:
1.     Energy for Keeps is all-inclusive. We didn't leave out any energy sources. We even included explanations of energy sources that are not considered renewable, so our readers could really get the whole picture.
2.     It's comprehensive in unique ways. This isn't "just" a science book. Readers of Energy for Keeps will find great easy-to-read information about energy history, electricity generation, environmental issues, and energy policy and management.
3.     It's up-to-date and objective. Just have a look at the acknowledgements. This publication was a team effort. We had input and reviews from over 75 technical experts from all over the U.S. — engineers and other knowledgeable people from state agencies, national laboratories, utilities, power plants, schools and universities.
4.     It's friendly and clear, and has awesome illustrations and diagrams. Our wonderful illustrator, Will Suckow, is an artist with (believe it or not) an engineering background. His art is technically correct, yet always smiles. And the language is equally friendly. Key words are listed at the beginning of each chapter and are defined in the glossary in the Appendix of the book.
Q: What do you mean by "other editions?"
A: We can develop different versions of this guide. For example, if you are representing a utility or a state agency in Nevada and you want to sponsor distribution of this guide to your schools or libraries, you might want an edition that includes more data about Nevada. A second example might be an edition in a language other than English. The Energy Education Group would be happy to work with you on such requests.
Q: Is this book just for teachers and kids?
A: No. It is friendly and not too technical, but it is definitely for — as the cover says — "everyone who uses electricity."
